The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) conducts accreditation surveys of hospitals to determine their compliance with nationally established standards. These standards deal with organization quality, patient safety issues and the safety of the environment in which care is delivered. They do not address billing, payment or labor relation issues.
