| In early 2005, SSM St. Mary’s Health Center unveiled its new Endoscopy Center, the result of $4.2 million in patient-focused renovations.
“Our new unit was designed with our patients as the primary focus,” said Maureen Hutson, RN, manager of the Endoscopy Center.
“We’ve taken extra steps to assure that each patient’s stay will be as comfortable as possible, given the nature of the procedures.” |

The renovations broadened St. Mary’s technical capabilities while increasing the Endoscopy Center’s size square footage by 57 percent. The center has private waiting rooms, recovery bays with private bathrooms and private consultation space.
The number of endoscopic procedures performed each year at St. Mary’s continues to grow. There were 9,823 procedures done in 2001, 10,985 in 2002, and 11,736 in 2003 – a 19 percent increase since 2001. |
