Maternal transfer service takes off
Specially trained nurses with SSM St. Mary’s Health Center’s Perinatal Center now ride with air and ground ambulances to assist expectant mothers who are in medical distress.
St. Mary’s Maternal Transfer Service transports high-risk obstetrics patients from other hospitals to the Perinatal Center for specialized care.
The Perinatal Center cares for every aspect of a highrisk pregnancy. The center is staffed around the clock by a team of maternal-fetal medicine physicians who specialize in complicated and high-risk pregnancies. The physician specialists are supported by a team of experienced, specially trained nurses and technicians.
The Perinatal Center is a collaborative service of St. Mary’s, SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis and SLUCare maternal fetal medicine specialists.
