Project Beacon will also deliver the EPIC Electronic Health Record to all SSM Facilities beginning in the Spring of 2008. St. Mary's is scheduled for implementation during the Winter of 2009. Included in the process will be implementation of Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and Point of Care (POC) bedside technology.
All pharmacists provide pharmacokinetic services, participate in Internal Medicine rounding, and are responsible for the education of medical residents, nursing staff, and patients.
The Program
Established in 2001, the 12 month, ASHP accredited program at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center is designed to develop the resident’s clinical knowledge through exposure to a variety of practice settings.
Two Pharmacy PGY-1 Residency positions are available each year. Personal attention is provided to each resident in order to design a program which corresponds to their specific needs and interests.
Pharmacists completing this residency will gain valuable skills applicable in their future careers. Each graduate of the Pharmacy PGY-1 Residency program has placed either in a clinical practice setting or in academia.
St. Mary’s Health Center is a 582 bed community teaching hospital owned and operated by SSM Health Care. The SSM system includes 20 acute care hospitals and 2 skilled nursing facilities in 4 states. St. Mary’s Health Center is the largest of the 7 SSM hospitals in the St. Louis Network.
