SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center,
St. Louis
In November 2006, our twin boys were born at 29 weeks. Our son Declan was transported to Cardinal Glennon the night of his birth.
For a while we had to go back and forth between Glennon and St. Mary’s in Clayton. After Declan’s brother had stabilized, the NICU doctors and nurses did everything possible to help get Grady to Glennon. Finally, after 3 weeks they were together again.
So, for 2 months, your hospital was our home. Your staff was our family. Cardinal Glennon and its “family” have touched our lives in so many ways. It would be nice to write a letter to each individual we’ve crossed paths with, but we know that isn’t possible. We just wanted to take this time to thank you sincerely for everything you’ve provided.
Because of your staff, we’ve been given 2 miracles to love. I know our story isn’t much different from anyone who walks in the hospital, but know that you’ve touched this family. The doctors and nurses see so many kids come and go, it’s impossible for them to remember everyone, but we remember them all.
We specifically want to acknowledge Dr. Ron Mitchell. We were sent to him in April 2007 due to a birth defect Declan had. We can’t thank him enough for everything he has done. He’s an excellent doctor and a wonderful person whom we’ve come to love. Even after Dr. Mitchell performed 4 surgeries on Declan, our son still smiles at him when he walks in the room. That’s when you know you’ve picked the right doctor.
Thanks to your wonderful hospital, NICU doctors and nurses, and Dr. Mitchell for making our boys healthy.
Sincerely,
The Kirchner Family Tim, Julie, Grady and Declan
