Sister Mary Jean Ryan Receives Quality Honors

Sister Mary Jean Ryan, FSM, President/CEO of SSM Health Care, has added the Joseph M. Juran Medal for distinguished performance in quality leadership to her long list of honors. Sister Mary Jean received the Juran Medal on May 5 from the American Society for Quality at its annual conference in Houston.
The Juran Medal is named after Dr. Joseph M. Juran, a world-renowned business and quality leader, and is presented to an individual who exhibits distinguished performance in a sustained role as an organizational leader, personally practicing the key principles of quality and demonstrating breakthrough management.
Sister Mary Jean has also been elected as an Academician to the International Academy for Quality. Sister Mary Jean received this second prestigious honor during the American Society for Quality annual conference on May 5.
The International Academy for Quality (IAQ) is an independent, non-profit organization that is administered by a collegial assembly of Academicians who have been elected by their peers from the most respected and experienced quality leaders in the world.
Sister Mary Jean has been the president/chief executive officer of SSM Health Care for more than 20 years and is one of a handful of nuns to still head a Catholic health-care system in the United States.
